Start a private draft with an observation

Build a private worksheet that separates an event, your interpretation and a question before any of it becomes a message.

Try this

  1. Create three labeled lines: observed, possible meaning, and still unknown. Put only directly known details on the first line, and do not fill the unknown line with a guess.
  2. Choose whether one unknown is worth clarifying. Keep the worksheet private; a recipient usually needs the actual question rather than your entire chain of speculation.

A worked example

Observed: the booking changed twice. Possible meaning: the time may not fit. Unknown: whether Saturday is still possible. Possible question: “Does Saturday still work, or should we choose another day?”

An invented example to adapt, not a real exchange or a script you have to follow.

Before you leave it here

If later facts contradict your first interpretation, update that line without rewriting the original observation. The worksheet is a thinking aid, not a record of another person’s motives.

This is a voluntary planning exercise. Keep your notes private, adapt the language, and leave any question unanswered. It does not require Ourling or a purchase.

Ourling’s library uses AI-assisted original writing. These are practical exercises, not clinical advice or promises about relationship outcomes. Suggest a correction or a missing situation.
