Write a message that permits a pass

Make an invitation optional in its wording and in what you intend to do if it is declined.

Try this

  1. Choose one question and remove language implying that answering proves care or trust.
  2. Include a practical alternative when helpful, such as postponing or leaving the subject alone. Mean the option you offer.

A worked example

“Would you like to share one thing from today? We can also skip the question and just say goodnight.”

An invented example to adapt, not a real exchange or a script you have to follow.

Before you leave it here

Do not follow a pass with repeated rewordings of the same request. If a practical issue still needs resolution, separate that need from the optional personal question.

This is a voluntary planning exercise. Keep your notes private, adapt the language, and leave any question unanswered. It does not require Ourling or a purchase.

Ourling’s library uses AI-assisted original writing. These are practical exercises, not clinical advice or promises about relationship outcomes. Suggest a correction or a missing situation.
