Offer practical help as a choice

Make the offer specific enough to accept or decline without requiring the recipient to invent a task for you.

Try this

  1. Name one task you can genuinely complete and the time you can offer.
  2. Ask whether doing it would help before changing the person’s arrangements. Include the follow-through, not just the visible first step.

A worked example

“I can collect the parcel tomorrow and bring it over before six. Would that help, or have you already arranged it?”

An invented example to adapt, not a real exchange or a script you have to follow.

Before you leave it here

Wait for agreement before acting. Unrequested help can create extra coordination, especially if you move belongings or contact someone on the other person’s behalf.
